East Austin Soccer Club
Coach Guzmán and his team established East Austin Soccer (EAS) in 2004 to address a critical gap in the community: the lack of affordable, competitive soccer opportunities for children from low-income families. Guzmán envisioned a place where every player could reach their full potential, without being limited by their family’s financial constraints. The mission was clear: to make high-level soccer accessible to all and to empower youth through the sport.
Coach Guzmán’s unwavering dedication to East Austin Soccer Club stems from witnessing the transformative impact of soccer on young players. The sport instills a strong sense of self-worth, discipline, and teamwork. He is particularly passionate about the club’s holistic approach, which extends beyond the field to offer life skills and pathways to higher education, including college opportunities through soccer.
It is a tremendous honor to receive this recognition from Major League Soccer. It means so much to be recognized alongside four amazing leaders and organizations doing great things in our city. I am deeply grateful that MLS acknowledges the hard work and dedication we are investing in our community. This support will significantly benefit soccer players in East Austin and strengthen our contributions by allowing us to continue to provide affordable, competitive, soccer league to all families in the Austin area. Such recognition inspires us to continue our efforts with even greater enthusiasm and to pursue broader goals that will uplift and empower East Austin.
