So Kids SOAR
So Kids SOAR (SKS, formerly Dreams For Kids DC), a not-for-profit section 501(c)(3), provides life-changing programs that empower youth with physical and developmental disabilities to Strive, Own, Achieve and Realize their potential. We enable participants to SOAR through a suite of adaptive programming that includes athletic, recreational, and skill-building activities. The self-confidence and skills gained through these programs inspire each child to realize that their disability will not prevent them from fulfilling their potential.
Glenda first found her love of philanthropy when she interned for Women for Women International in 2008. That same year, she hosted her first fundraiser and shared stories of female entrepreneurship in war-torn countries. In 2009, she traveled to Ecuador to help build a school for underprivileged children. Since taking over So Kids SOAR, she has engaged hundreds of new volunteers, and empowered hundreds of children with disabilities. Glenda also freelances PR and event planning for local companies, which she leverages to raise money for other nonprofits in her spare time. Since 2010, she has helped raise over $100,000 for other local & international nonprofits.
